    What you are going to learn

    Course Objectives

    Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
    1. Understand the theoretical underpinnings of Motivational Interviewing, its guiding principles, and the research supporting its effectiveness in various mental health settings.
    2. Develop proficiency in the core MI communication skills: open-ended questions, affirmations, reflections, and summaries (OARS).
    3. Recognize and respond to different client language patterns, including change talk, sustain talk, and discord, to facilitate the process of behavior change.
    4. Utilize advanced MI techniques, such as the decisional balance exercise, values exploration, and goal setting, to support clients in resolving ambivalence and enhancing motivation.
    5. Integrate MI into various evidence-based psychotherapy approaches, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
    6. Adapt MI strategies to address the unique needs of diverse client populations, considering factors such as age, cultural background, and individual preferences.
    7. Evaluate the effectiveness of MI-based interventions in one's clinical practice, and adapt treatment plans based on client feedback and progress.
